- Bespoke Tour: We organise this trip as a private trip to fit your dates and suit your interests. Please email us for details and a quote.
Angel Falls is the tallest waterfall on Earth. At 979 m in height (nearly a vertical kilometre high), this immense cascade is twice the height of the Empire State building and fifteen times the height of Niagara Falls - it is one of the great natural spectacles of our world.
Standing at the base of Angel Falls and looking up at the tallest cascade on Earth is one of the world’s great experiences! This trip offers an adventurous and fun (but safe and enjoyable) canoe trip past towering plateaus to camp opposite Angel Falls, and then trek to the very base of the beautiful waterfall!
Please note: we organise Canoe trips to Angel Falls as part of our ‘Helicopter to Mount Roraima Canoe to Angel Falls Adventure’. You can join that expedition, and come just for the canoe trip to Angel Falls (see the ‘Helicopter to Mount Roraima Canoe to Angel Falls Adventure’ page of our website for dates and details), or we can organise this trip for you as a bespoke private expedition to fit your dates and suit your interests. Please email us for details and a quote.
Canoe Trip to Angel Falls Itinerary
Day 1: Meet at Puerto Ordaz Airport, Venezuela for 8.00 am departing flight to Canaima (the start point for our trip to Angel Falls). On landing, we transfer to motorised, traditional Pemón dugout canoes (curiaras) and travel upstream to Angel Falls camp (4 hrs in the canoes). Angel Falls camp is on the bank of the river opposite the mighty Angel Falls. We watch the sun set on the tallest waterfall on the planet. Dinner at Angel Falls camp. Overnight in hammocks.
Day 2: Breakfast in Angel Falls camp, and then cross the river in the canoes and then hike through the rainforest for 1 km to the base of Angel Falls to photograph the gigantic cascade and to bathe in the cascading waters of the falls. We have lunch at a scenic look out point, and then return to Angel Falls camp. Dinner at Angel Falls camp. Overnight in hammocks.
Day 3: After breakfast, we return by motorised canoes back to Canaima. After lunch in Canaima, we explore Canaima lagoon with a walk to Sapo Falls and, depending on water levels, either a walk behind the thundering curtain of water of Sapo Falls or Hacha Falls. Dinner and overnight in a posada (local hotel) in Canaima.
Day 4: Breakfast, then transfer in light aircraft back to Puerto Ordaz.
While we recommend starting and finishing this expedition in Puerto Ordaz, we can arrange to meet you in Santa Elena, Caracas or any other city in Venezuela. Or in Boa Vista or Manaus in Brazil.
